Balipatana (Khordha Dist): Strong belief with specific goal and hard work always leads to success. This has been proved by the mushroom farmer Sanjay Kumar Rout of Badala Sasan village in Balipatana area, which is 32km far from Bhubaneswar. He started mushroom farming from 1998 and earning a handsome profit till date. Earlier days, his family is only concentrating on paddy. As per him, once he went to the nearest weekly market to purchase some home needs. From there, he got to know about mushroom farming and its higher range of profit margin. After that he started regular visit to that marketplace to learn and understand more about this farming from the other mushroom farmers.
He always pays attention how to grow more and more mushroom and spends about three hours per day for it. Except floods or cyclone, he never faces any loss with this mushroom farming yet. As per Sanjay, various methods of mushroom farming are there, where it takes two to three days to start germinating of seeds and a total of 13-15 days for fully germination. So, it’s necessary to take care of this germinated mushroom on daily basis to get more profit. The farmers who don’t follow these methods are likely to get less benefit said by him. Now, Sanjay earns by 1.5 to 2 lakhs a year.
He is always concentrating on the yielding part only and for marketing, he never faces any problem as the traders are coming directly his farming place to procure mushrooms from him.
