Strengthening Climate-Resilient Rice Seed Production: Farmers–Scientist Training Held in Dhenkanal

Livelihood Alternatives partner FPC Maa Dasabhuja LAFED FPC Limited, Odapada, Dhenkanal, organized a Farmers–Scientist Interaction-cum-Training Programme on “Building Farmers’ Capacity through Quality Seed Production of Climate-Resilient Rice Varieties.”

The programme was conducted under the RKVY project “Participatory Climate Risk Management Using Abiotic Stress-Resilient and Quality Seed Intervention,” implemented by Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, and funded by Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Department of Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha.

The programme was graced by eminent experts and dignitaries, including Dr. S. K. Dash (Principal Investigator & Course Director), Mr. Biswanath Das (CDAO), Dr. R. P. Sah, Dr. Reshmi Raj K. R. (Co-PI), Dr. P. C. Rath, and Dr. Dibyendu Chatterjee.

During the sessions, experts shared insights on climate-resilient seed hubs, drought-tolerant rice varieties, quality seed production practices, pest and disease management, scientific rice cultivation, and seed purity maintenance. The workshop saw active participation from farmers, women farmers, BoDs, and other stakeholders, strengthening local capacity for climate-resilient rice seed production.
