On the occasion of its 6th Foundation Day, Livelihood Alternatives (LA) organised a workshop on Natural Farming at Satyabadi block of Puri district. The objective was to provide an opportunity for peer-to-peer learning.
The workshop brought together farmers practising natural farming and those who wanted to switch to a non- chemical process of cultivation. The prospects, procedure and challenges were discussed, followed by field demonstration of various methods being followed with respect to natural farming.
Farmers from different FPCs belonging to Puri, Kanas and Tangi blocks also participated. The adverse impact of chemical usage in agricultural practices are today well recognised. Therefore, transition to natural methods, which have been integral to India’s traditional knowledge systems is widely recognised. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modiji , such initiatives have been accorded the utmost priority in policy formulation.
