Livelihood Alternatives Celebrating Akshaya Tritiya – Sowing Seeds of Prosperity and Sustainability

On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, Livelihood Alternatives (LA) and its partner Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) came together to celebrate the traditional agricultural ritual of “Akhi Muthi Anukula” across various blocks of Odisha. This sacred ceremony, where farmers ceremonially sow the first handful of seeds, marks the beginning of the kharif season and is a symbol of abundance, hope, and new beginnings.

Beyond its cultural significance, this annual celebration is embraced as an opportunity to promote sustainable agricultural practices, encourage timely sowing, and foster collective readiness for the farming season ahead. LA’s close collaboration with its partner FPOs ensures that these moments serve not only as a cultural cornerstone but also as a platform for knowledge sharing, farmer engagement, and strengthening community bonds.

Through this shared celebration, Livelihood Alternatives reaffirms its commitment to resilient rural livelihoods and sustainable farming practices, ensuring that tradition and innovation go hand in hand.
