Livelihood Alternatives (LA) Advances Farmer Prosperity through Hybrid Paddy Seed Production

Livelihood Alternatives (LA) continues its commitment to improving farmers' livelihoods by promoting income diversification and sustainable agricultural practices. As part of the ongoing Hybrid Paddy Seed Production initiative, farmer-shareholders of Nandighosh LA FED FPCL, an FPO based in the Puri Sadar block, have successfully harvested certified seed paddy from 30 acres of land.

In strict adherence to Fair Average Quality (FAQ) standards, the harvested paddy was carefully cleaned, sun-dried, and packed into 360 gunny bags under the close supervision of officials from Pioneer Seeds. A total of 128 quintals of high-quality seed paddy was weighed and dispatched, with sale proceeds being directly credited to the individual bank accounts of participating farmers, ensuring complete transparency.

This initiative not only strengthens farmers’ access to premium seed markets but also fosters environmentally responsible farming practices—including reduced chemical use, scientific crop planning, and improved post-harvest management.

By supporting such integrated efforts, Livelihood Alternatives is driving increased profitability, climate resilience, and long-term sustainability for rural farming communities.
