Certified Pigeon Pea Seeds Distributed to Farmers Across Boudh District

Seed Production can be an alternative source of income for the agrarian community. It also contributes to augmenting their income. Livelihood Alternatives, in collaboration with ICRISAT, distributed certified pigeon pea seeds to farmers in the blocks of Harabhanga, Boudh and Kantamal of Boudh district. The project is being implemented under 'Intensive Agriculture Programme, Including Revival and Sustainable Intensification of Forgotten Crops & Atmanirbhar Odisha in Pulses through Enhanced Seed Systems for Lentil, Fieldpea and Pigeonpea (2026–27).

A total of more than 800 farmers will benefit from the project, covering a total cultivation area of 509 hectares (1,272.5 acres). Each participating farmer is expected to earn an estimated additional income of ₹52,936, enhancing livelihoods through quality seed production.
