On November 5, 2024, an exposure visit to Satyabadi, Puri, was organized for 20 students and 5-6 faculty members from Trident Academy of Technology (TAT), Bhubaneswar, along with five staff members from Livelihood Alternatives (LA). This visit aimed to provide participants with practical insights into sustainable agricultural practices, covering topics such as organic farming, mushroom cultivation, and integrated farming.
Â
The day’s program included multiple site visits, beginning with the exploration of an integrated farming system that combined crop cultivation, fishery, and animal husbandry, showcasing how these practices can coexist to optimize resources and support sustainable farming. This was followed by a guided tour of an organic farm where participants learned about sustainable farming techniques, soil management, and the benefits of organic crop production. The final site visit was to a mushroom farm, which offered a comprehensive look at mushroom cultivation, resource management, and its economic potential.

After the site visits, the group took a lunch break, allowing participants to network and share their observations. This was followed by an interactive session where students and faculty could ask questions and discuss their experiences. Feedback forms were distributed to capture participants’ insights and suggestions. The visit concluded with the group departing Satyabadi in the evening. The experience provided valuable exposure to sustainable farming methods, fostering a deeper understanding of agricultural practices that promote both productivity and environmental stewardship.
